Saturday was a near perfect day for the first Color-A-Thon run/walk hosted by the Paton-Churdan schools in Churdan.
About 215 runners and walkers followed the 3K route around Churdan, being splashed with non-toxic color as they went. Afterward, participants and members of the community stretched the fun with an AfterBlast party that featured lunch, a DJ, and a bounce house for children.
According to principal Annie Smith, totals aren’t in yet, but organizers likely met their $5,000 goal. The funds will be used by the Paton-Churdan athletic department to purchase a new scoreboard for the gymnasium, personalized folding chairs for the basketball teams, and other expenses.
“Our first ever Color-A-Thon could not have been more picture perfect. It was a beautiful day filled with fun and, of course, a lot of color,” Smith said. She thanked all the volunteers who helped and the participants who supported the athletic department. “We hope to continue this fun event in the coming years.”
